Prescott SWAT team called for armed man
PRESCOTT – After hours of negotiation and a tense standoff, authorities with the Prescott Police Department say a man is finally in custody following a dispute between neighbors.
The incident began Wednesday morning at about 6 a.m. on a report of a man pointing a gun at his neighbor in their trailer park. The standoff began right after police arrived.
Crisis negotiators and a police SWAT team were also called in to assist, and the Prescott Mile High Middle School was placed on lock down as a precaution.
Police say the suspect, 60-year-old Robert Laber surrendered at 9:35 a.m. and was taken to the Yavapai County Jail and booked on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct with a weapon.
