NAUPD Police Beat (Feb. 13 — Feb. 19)

Feb. 13

At 12:35 p.m., a staff member at the Communications building reported a stolen classroom computer. The burglary occurred at an unknown date and time before Feb. 6 3:15 p.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 3:05 p.m., a resident of Rosebery apartments reported her bicycle stolen. The theft occurred between Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and Feb.13 at 9:00 a.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 9:51 p.m., a fire alarm was activated at McConnell Hall.

Officers and Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD) were dispatched, but the alarm was found to be faulty. Fire/Life Safety was notified of the faulty alarm.

 

Feb. 14

At 7:32 a.m., the Wilson Hall RHD requested a follow up visit regarding a stolen X-Box that had been previously reported missing. The RHD had received anonymous information about the thief possibly being a resident of the hall.

An officer was dispatched. No action was taken with the suspected thief at this time, but the serial number on the X-Box was given to NAU Information Technology Services so it can be tracked on the NAU network.

 

At 10:18 a.m., a fire alarm was activated at Raymond Hall.

Officers and FFD were dispatched, but the alarm was found to have been activated by smoke from cooking.

 

At 9:44 p.m., a Rosebery Apartment resident reported that a man had approached her vehicle. The man did not say or do anything but watch her from a distance.

An officer was dispatched. The area was checked, but no contact was made with the male subject.

 

At 10:29 p.m., Allen Hall staff reported an odor of marijuana coming from a first floor residence.

Officers were dispatched. One student was deferred for possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Feb. 15

At 4:06 a.m., a supervisor for Mortenson Construction reported that his staff had unintentionally left a door unlocked in the Health and LearningCenter. An unknown subject had entered the building and began soliciting money.

NAU officers were dispatched, assisted by Flagstaff Police Department (FPD) and the building was cleared with negative contact.

 

At 12:16 p.m., Wall Aquatic staff reported a lock that had been cut off of a closet door in the basement. The damage occurred between Feb. 13 at 5:00 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 9:00 a.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 9:31 p.m., Gabaldon Hall staff reported an odor of marijuana.

Officers were dispatched but the source of the odor could not be found.

 

At 10:14 p.m., a Gabaldon Hall resident reported a theft of cash from his room. The theft occurred between Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 10:00 p.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 10:41 p.m., Allen Hall staff reported an odor of marijuana.

Officers were dispatched. New drug paraphernalia was seized and the subjects involved were believed to have been reported on the previous day.

 

Feb. 16

At 6:10 p.m., Health and Learning Center staff reported the theft of a computer monitor from a classroom. The theft occurred between Feb. 15 at 9:00 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 6:00 p.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 7:27 p.m., a student reported the theft of her backpack from Cline Library. The theft occurred between 7:10 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 10:44 p.m., a student reported that occupants of a vehicle had thrown fireworks out of their vehicle, almost hitting the reporting party. The student was not hit and the vehicle left the scene.

Officers were dispatched. The area was checked with negative contact and no evidence of fireworks could be located in the area.

 

At 11:37 p.m., University Safety Aids (USA’s) reported securing the Liberal Arts building. While securing the building, an alarm was activated on the third floor.

The panel indicated smoke on the third floor, but the area was searched and no smoke could be located. The alarm was determined to be faulty and Fire/Life Safety was notified.

 

Feb. 17

At 3:25 p.m., Health and Learning Center staff reported that a handicap pedestal had been damaged. The damage occurred between Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. and Feb. at 7:00 a.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 4:41 p.m., an officer reported checking on an intoxicated subjec who was located at the east concourse of the Skydome.

The subject was warned of trespass and was asked to leave the area.

 

At 5:11 p.m., an officer reported being out with the subject from the previous entry at the east Skydome practice fields.

The subject was arrested and booked into Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) for trespassing.

 

At 5:58 p.m., a report was received regarding a fire pit on the basketball courts between Wilson Hall and Allen Hall.

An officer was dispatched but the “fire pit” was found to be a barbecue and everything was fine. No further action was taken.

 

At 7:58 p.m., a student reported that an electrical line on her vehicle had been cut while it was parked in lot 13. The vandalism occurred between Feb. 13 at 8:30 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 5:30 a.m.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 10:31 p.m., Rosebery Hall staff reported an odor of marijuana.

An officer was dispatched but the source of the odor could not be found.

 

At 10:36 p.m., custodial staff at the Performing and Fine Arts building reported a male subject who was found sleeping in the restroom.

Officers were dispatched and the subject was trespassed campus wide.

 

At 11:53 p.m.,McKay Village staff reported a student for assaulting his roommate. The assault occurred around 11:05 p.m.

Officers were dispatched and the investigation is open and pending further information.

 

Feb. 18

At 2:12 a.m., an officer reported contacting a subject in lot 31.

The student was cited and released for minor with liquor in body.

 

At 2:39 a.m., a subject requested assistance locating a friend who had been seen an hour before the time of the call.

Officers were dispatched. The friend was located in her room by roommates in Cowden Hall. Two of her companions were cited and released for minor with liquor in body.

 

At 9:00 a.m., an officer reported damage from snow falling from the Skydome onto a basketball official’s vehicle while it was parked.

An officer was dispatched and information was taken regarding the incident.

 

At 12:16 p.m., a subject reported that his child had gone missing during an event at the Skydome. All police units were at the Skydome event and were advised to begin looking for the missing child. The child was found unharmed a few minutes later.

 

At 2:57 p.m., a subject reported an abusive situation between a male and female subject in lot 64.

Officers were dispatched. The subjects were contacted. The assault was unfounded, but one subject was booked into CCSO for a valid warrant out of Holbrook.

 

Feb. 19

At 12:42 a.m., Rosebery Apartments staff reported a group of underage students who they believed to be drinking.

Officers were dispatched but evidence of underage drinking was unfounded.

 

At 3:50 a.m., Wilson Hall staff reported that a balcony fixture had been thrown off of the second floor balcony.

Officers were dispatched but the investigation was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 4:04 p.m., a fire alarm was activated at Hilltop Apartments.

Officers and FFD were dispatched. The sprinklers had been activated in Building 1. Maintenance and construction staff was notified. The sprinklers were turned off and the alarm was reset.

 

At 4:51 p.m., a Cowden Hall resident reported her ex-roommate for threatening to hit her. The threats occurred on Feb. 18 at approximately 5:00 p.m.

An officer was dispatched but the threats were unfounded at the time.

 

At 6:21 p.m., a Gabaldon Hall resident reported three subjects who appeared to be going into the woods to smoke marijuana.

Officers were dispatched but no contact was made with the subject.

 

At 7:32 p.m., Cline Library staff received reports of an intoxicated subject in the men’s restroom, who claimed to have been hit.

An officer was dispatched. The subject appeared to be intoxicated, but otherwise appeared to be fine. The subject was given a public assistance ride to Detox.

 

At 7:50 p.m., Wilson Hall staff reported an odor of marijuana coming from a second floor residence.

Officers were dispatched but the source of the odor could not be found.

 

At 10:08 p.m., an officer reported being out with a vehicle that was parked on the pedway between Cowden hall and Tinsley Hall.

The driver was in the process of moving out of the building. He was given a verbal warning for parking illegally and he then moved his vehicle.
