Fire restrictions in place throughout the state
Until the monsoon season arrives, there are fire restrictions all throughout Coconino and Yavapai county for campers. The specifics of the fire restrictions include:
- No fires, campfires, charcoal, coal or wood stoves are allowed
- No smoking, except within enclosed vehicles or buildings.
There are parts of Fossil Creek that are closed due to the restrictions. The restrictions will not be lifted until the area receives ample rainfall. Until monsoon season begins, campers will have to make use of flashlights, gas stoves or lanterns.
On average, monsoon season for Arizona starts in the beginning of July and goes through until the end of August.
For more information, or to keep watch on the restrictions, visit the Coconino National Forest homepage or contact the Coconino National Forest Supervisor’s Office.
