Police Beat (Aug. 27 – Sept. 2)

Sept. 2
At 2:04 a.m., staff at Tinsley Hall reported several residents had been drinking and refusing to cooperate. Officers were dispatched. Dorm staff decided to handle the situation and deferred all subjects for minor consumption.
At 1:37 p.m., a patron at the Health and Learning Center called to report a possible transient in the fourth floor lounge area. An officer was dispatched. The subject was not in the fourth floor lounge area. The building was checked without locating the subject.
At 9:45 p.m., staff from Mountain View Hall called to report the odor of marijuana. Officers were dispatched. One subject was cited and released for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
At, 10:05 p.m., an officer at McConnell Hall reported criminal damage to the door of the C300 wing. The incident occurred at an unknown time on Aug. 31. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
Sept. 1
At 12:15 a.m., NAU Police Department (NAUPD) received a report of a male subject following a female subject south on the bus spine from building 96B. An officer was dispatched. The female subject entered Sechrisht Hall and the male subject could not be located. No further action was taken.
At 12:49 a.m., an officer reported six individuals were intoxicated at Reilly Hall. Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD) and Guardian Medical Transport (GMT) were dispatched. One non-student was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC). The subject will be cited at a later time for minor consumption.
At 2:05 a.m., an officer reported an intoxicated subject was at Hilltop Townhomes. The subject was cited and released for minor consumption.
At 11:40 a.m., a resident of Hilltop Townhomes called to report an intoxicated subject had mistakenly entered the reporting party’s suite and had showered and changed clothes, leaving behind her own clothes and exiting the apartment wearing the roommates’ clothes. This occurred on Aug. 31 at 10:30 p.m. An officer was dispatched and the subject declined to file a report at this time.
At 9:12 p.m., staff from Wilson Hall called to report two subjects were selling magazines inside the hall. Officers were dispatched. One subject (a non-student) was arrested and booked into Coconino County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Jail for felony first-degree trespass.
Aug. 31
At 12:43 a.m., an officer reported a subject was sleeping in the wooded area north of Pine Knoll Drive and McConnell Drive. The subject was advised of trespassing campus-wide and left the area.
At 1:04 a.m., staff at McConell Hall reported a resident had been assaulted and was in the lobby. An officer was dispatched. It was found the assault happened off campus. Flagstaff Police Department (FPD) dispatched for the assault. Two students were deferred for minor in consumption.
At 9:38 a.m., a subject reported to FPD two dogs were running loose at the Dome Practice Fields. At 9:54 a.m., an officer located the dogs and were brought back to NAUPD. The owner was contacted and picked up the dogs.
At 4:19 p.m., an anonymous subject called to report a resident of Allen Hall possibly smoking methamphetamine in his room. Officers were dispatched. The subject was arrested and booked into the CCSO for possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 11:47 p.m., staff at McConnell Hall reported someone had written derogatory remarks on a white board. An officer was dispatched, but no crime occurred.
Aug. 30
At 5:02 p.m., a subject reported a bicycle being stolen from the University Union. The theft occurred between 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Officers were dispatched. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
Aug. 29
At 3:42 p.m., a passerby called to report subjects were driving around 15 minutes prior in a pick-up truck and shooting people with an air soft gun. An officer was dispatched and FPD was notified to attempt to locate the vehicle. The subjects could not be located in the area.
At 4:38 p.m., a subject called reporting the subjects from the previous entry were driving past the Adel Math building and shot him with an air soft gun. Officers were dispatched. One subject was arrested and booked into Juvenile Detention for assault.
At 10:55 p.m., two subjects reported a male subject who appeared to be intoxicated was following females very closely. Officers were dispatched. The subject was warned of trespassing and left the area.
Aug. 28
At 12:37 p.m., staff at Campus Heights called to report a resident was possibly smoking marijuana in his apartment. An officer was dispatched. Hall staff was advised by the resident’s roommate that the subject was smoking; however the resident was not smoking marijuana. Dorm staff was provided with information as to how to handle future complaints.
At 8:18 p.m., a student reported his bike had been stolen from outside of Sechrist Hall. The theft occurred between Aug. 27 at 7:45 p.m. and Aug. 28 at 3:45 p.m. An officer was dispatched. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
At 8:31 p.m., staff at McConnell Hall called to report they had just broken up a fight between two students. One had already left the area. An officer was dispatched and the students were deferred.
At 9:04 p.m., University Safety Aides reported four subjects possibly smoking marijuana in the wooded area south of the ROTC building. Officers were dispatched. One student was arrested and booked into CCSO for minor in consumption and providing false information to law enforcement. One student was deferred for use of marijuana and another student was deferred for providing false information to law enforcement.
At 9:22 p.m., staff at Reilly Hall reported two subjects had put a bag underneath a vehicle in Lot 32. Officers were dispatched. The bag was possibly related to the previous entry.
Aug. 27
At 10:05 a.m., a subject called to report the tailgate had been stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in Lot 62. The theft occurred between 7:45 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. An officer was dispatched. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
At 1:57 p.m., a student called to report her phone was stolen from a restroom in Allen Hall. The theft occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. An officer was dispatched. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
At 4:06 p.m., an officer reported finding graffiti on the east side of the parking garage at the Hilltop Townhomes. The incident occurred between an unknown date and time and the time of the call. The case is closed with all leads exhausted.
At 11:42 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on the bus spine at the Hotel and Restaurant Management building. FFD and GMT were dispatched for the driver who was having a seizure. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. The case is still open and pending.
