Police beat (Sept. 17 — Sept. 23)

 

Sept. 23

At 10:09 p.m., NAUPD received a report of a “sketchy” looking male in the area of Gillenwater Hall and McDonald Hall.

Officers responded and warned the subject of trespassing on campus, resulting in the subject leaving campus.

 

At 10:43 p.m., staff at the Gateway Center reported a subject in the store who had previously been warned of trespassing.

Officers were dispatched and there was no documentation of the previous warning. The subject was then warned of trespassing.

 

Sept. 22

At 1:13 a.m., a resident of Mountain View reported several subjects were assaulting an individual in Lot 7A.

Officers responded and contacted the group in front of the Health and Learning Center with a witness positively identifying the group. The victim could not be located and the assault was unfounded.

 

At 8:56 p.m., a subject reported a male subject in the area of Raymond Hall and Aspen Hall who was “creepy” looking.

Officers responded, as did Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD) and Guardian Medical Transport (GMT) due to intoxication. The subject refused transport and was arrested and booked into Coconino County Sheriff Office (CCSO) for trespassing.

 

Sept. 21

At 1:56 a.m., staff at the Gateway Center reported a student had just stolen a product off the shelf and ran out. At the time of the call, the subject had already left the area.

Officers responded and the case was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 1:03 p.m., staff at Cowden Hall reported a subject walking around with an axe.

Officers responded and located the resident. Everything was ok and no crime was committed, but the student was advised not to walk around with the tool.

 

Sept. 20

At 6:19 a.m., a construction staff member reported 24 lightning protection rods had been broken off at the top floor of building 96B. The incident had occurred sometime between Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. and Sept. 20 at 6 a.m.

Officers responded and the case was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 9:52 a.m., a subject reported a friend had sent text messages with suicidal statements and was on their way to the Health and Learning Center.

Officers responded and contacted the subject, who was okay. She was referred to the counseling center for an appointment.

 

At 10:17 a.m., Flagstaff Police Department (FPD) forwarded information regarding child pornography going to a computer on the NAU network sometime between May 23 and Aug. 28.

The case is currently open and pending investigation.

 

At 11:35 p.m., a student reported three subjects had siphoned gas from his car in Lot 30.

Officers were dispatched and the three students were cited and released for attempted theft.

 

Sept. 19

At 3:31 p.m., a subject reported her vehicle had been keyed while parked in Lot 28C between 1:30 p.m. and the time of her call.

Officers responded and the case was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 4:09 p.m., a subject reported the theft of a phone from the SBS West building. The theft had occurred at 1:15 p.m.

Officers responded and the case was closed with all leads exhausted.

 

At 7:15 p.m., a subject reported a male physically detained her in the University Union for about 15 minutes. Another female called to report she had also been detained for about five minutes at 6:55 p.m.

Two officers responded and the student was arrested and booked into CCSO on two counts of unlawful imprisonment, two counts of assault, two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of second-degree trespass.

 

Sept. 17

At 1:07 p.m., a citizen called to report seeing two subjects with possible bolt cutters by the bike racks on the west side of Sechrist Hall.

Officers responded and the subjects were gone upon arrival.

 

At 8:24 p.m., the residence hall director of Allen Hall reported a male subject acting suspicious and grabbing onto people.
