Police Beat Oct. 8 – Oct. 14

 

Oct. 14

At 12:08 a.m., Flagstaff Police Department (FPD) received a report that several subjects were spraying each other with fire extinguishers in Lot 40.

An officer was dispatched, but no one was at the scene upon their arrival.

 

At 1:19 a.m., FPD received a report of several fire alarms from Allen Hall.  Two officers were dispatched, as well as Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD).  The alarms were set off by several fire extinguishers sprayed all over the third floor of the building.

An officer was dispatched, but no one was at the scene upon their arrival.

 

At 3:12 a.m., staff at Sechrist Hall reported the odor of marijuana in a dorm room.

A student was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

 

At 5:12 p.m., a resident of McKay Village called to report her roommate had assaulted her earlier in the day.

Officers were dispatched.  The assault was unfounded and the involved parties were moved to different rooms.  No assault occurred.

 

5:25 p.m., a resident of Reilly Hall called to report his iPod had been stolen between 2:20 p.m. and 3:30 p.m..

Officers were dispatched.  The suspect was contacted in the building and he returned the item.  The victim declined to file charges.

 

Oct. 13

At 10:20 a.m., a resident of The Suites requested medical attention for a severe nose bleed.

FPD, FFD and Guardian Medical Transport (GMT) were dispatched.  The student refused medical transport.

 

At 6:20 p.m., a resident of Reilly Hall called to report  his bicycle had been stolen between Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. and October 13 at 1 p.m.

Officers responded and a report was taken for informational purposes.

 

At 7:31 p.m., a Guidance Center crisis line operator contacted FPD to advise of a suicidal subject near the Health and Learning Center on San Francisco Street.

The subject was located unharmed at San Francisco Street and Franklin Avenue.  FPD arrived and took responsibility for the incident.

 

At 10:45 p.m., a passerby reported a male subject near the University Union who was dressed in a costume and running after girls and attempting to hug them.  The subject was coming from a costume party and was trying to get pictures.

He was advised by NAUPD his behavior was alarming to some of these females and he agreed to stop.

 

Oct. 12

At 12:20 a.m., staff at the Gateway Center called to report several subjects throwing apples from the west side of Aspen Crossing.

The subjects were gone when police arrived, so action was taken.

 

At 1:56 p.m. an employee called to report graffiti outside Tinsley Hall on the dumpsters.

The incident occurred at an unknown time and date.

 

At 2:13 p.m., an employee called to report his parking permit was stolen from his vehicle while parked in the 1899 parking lot.

Officers responded and a report was taken for informational purposes.

 

At 8:48 p.m., a resident of South Family apartments called to report the sound of a male hitting a female in the adjoining unit.

The subject,  a non-student, was arrested and booked into Coconino County Sheriff’s Office detention facility for domestic violence, assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal damage.

 

Oct. 11

At 1:04 a.m., a student called to report her ex-boyfriend was texting her suicidal statements.

The subject was contacted at Taylor Hall, put in touch with the on-call NAU counselor and scheduled an appointment.

 

At 12:49 a.m., a father called to report that his daughter, a resident of McConnell Hall, was threatened via Facebook.

Information was provided to the student, though no report was taken.

 

At 8:40 p.m., a resident of The Suites called to report her ex-boyfriend, a resident of Sechrist Hall, refused to return her belongings.

An officer was dispatched to provide civil standby at Sechrist Hall for the woman to retrieve her belongings.

 

At 9:53 p.m., staff from Gabaldon Hall called to report an odor of marijuana from a dorm room.

Officers were unable to substantiate the report.

 

Oct. 10

At 8:23 a.m., an employee called to report a possible transient camp north of Pine Knoll Drive and McConnell Drive.

The subjects camping were identified, allowed to gather their belongings and left the area.

 

At 2:31 p.m., a resident of Wilson Hall called to report a subject threatened to assault her after an argument.

The resident declined to make a report.  The resident and hall staff handled the issue internally.

 

At 10:48 p.m., a subject inside Sechrist Hall called to report four males who appeared to be trying to break into a vehicle on the north side of Sechrist Hall.

Subjects were gone prior to NAUPD arrival and could not be located in Sechrist or in the area.  No damages were evident in the parking lot.

 

Oct. 9

At 3:10 a.m., Allen Hall staff reported a subject sleeping in the first floor restroom.

The student was cited and released for minor consumption and was escorted by FPD to her room.

 

At 10:53 p.m., an NAU Shuttle Services supervisor called to report bus drivers had reported a male subject chasing a female southbound on the Transit Spine at the biological sciences building. The male was at Sechrist Hall.  The male ran from NAUPD and was subsequently hit a car at University Avenue and Beaver Street.  FFD and GMT were dispatched and the subject was arrested and booked into CCSO.

 

Oct. 8

At 3:48 a.m., custodial staff at the chemistry building reported the glass was missing from a vending machine and it was empty.

Officers responded and a report was taken for informational purposes.

 

At 4:10 p.m., building access services staff reported several doors had the handles broken off at Cowden Hall.  The damage occurred within the previous day.

 

At 3:13 p.m., an officer reported being out with a subject sleeping in Lot 3.

The subject was advised not to sleep on campus and left the area.

 

At 13:47 p.m.,the same officer reported being out with the same subject, now sleeping outside the Drury Inn.
