Health campaign aims to make students ‘health nuts’
They are everywhere. Plastered to tack boards, flashing on televisions, slipped into napkin holders and floating around on fliers; and they have students talking. NAU Health Promotions decided to use a cartoon squirrel to revamp the social norms campaign this year, which aims to spread awareness regarding healthier habits in unhealthy behaviors. Many advertisements address drug and alcohol use, sex and exercise. Variety of standard flag bearers to represent their schools at graduation
As is tradition at NAU graduation ceremonies, students will file in ranks into the commencement ceremony and at their head will be the standard bearers, students selected to represent all the schools within their college. Emily Linck, graduating with a master’s degree in education and special education, was chosen as the standard bearer for the graduate College of Education. Her hard work is what she believes led to her special position in the graduation ceremony. “I consider it an honor to be selected as a standard bearer by the dean of the College of Education,” Linck said. … [Read More...]

Norwegian Olympic swimmer dies in Flagstaff
One of Norway’s biggest Olympic gold medal prospects died while in his Flagstaff hotel room Monday night. Alexander Dale Oen, 26, was found in the bathroom by swimming teammates after suffering from cardiac arrest. The Norwegian national swim team’s doctor performed CPR for six minutes until the ambulance arrived and transported Oen to Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC). Hospital staff attempted to start his heart for an hour before declaring him dead.
